PepsiCo Leaders Engage BlogHer-Goers on the Unprecedented Influence of Women in Digital Media
PEP

NEW YORK, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PepsiCo will unveil "Women, the 5G Network," this week at the annual BlogHer conference. "Women, the 5G network" is a provocative, interactive dialogue around the power, potential and promise of women -- as transformational business leaders, influential media and engaged consumers.

The launch pad for this on-going discussion will be a "Sofa Summit" breakfast featuring PepsiCo female leaders, Campbell Brown and BlogHers to celebrate and elevate the collective collateral women have and the impact to society and the marketplace.

"Women are a driving force in business.  Their influence can be felt both inside and outside companies," said Julie Hamp, Senior Vice President, Chief Communications Officer for PepsiCo. "Now with online connectivity, women have extraordinary power and reach -- creating the ultimate '5G Network.'  We want to shine a light on the great strides women have made – in business, social media and sustainability -- and enable change by tapping into what's important to women today – and for the future."

As a summit for online women community leaders, BlogHer is an ideal venue to engage and dialogue with digital influencers, offering PepsiCo an opportunity to demonstrate its dedication to "leading by listening."  Throughout BlogHer, PepsiCo will engage in an interactive discussion about the influence women wield today detailed below.  PepsiCo's BlogHer activities will be syndicated at www.pepsicoportal.com.

Women: the 5G Network -- The Sofa Summit

Moderated by award winning journalist formerly of CNN and NBC Campbell Brown, PepsiCo will host a "Sofa Summit" with several of PepsiCo's female leaders, including Sarah Robb O'Hagan, Chief Marketing Officer, Gatorade; Julie Hamp, Senior Vice President, Chief Communications Officer, PepsiCo; and Dondeena Bradley, Vice President, Global Design and Development, Nutrition Ventures, for a frank, woman-to-woman discussion with some of the country's most influential bloggers.  This unprecedented dialogue will focus on the potential of women, the ultimate 5G Network, to drive innovation and catalyze transformation.

PepsiCo BlogCast Studio & Women: the 5G Network -- The Interview Series

PepsiCo is creating the ultimate gathering spot at BlogHer – the PepsiCo BlogCast Studio.  Here, bloggers can meet to share ideas and information, sample PepsiCo products and share their opinions and outlook about the passions, promise and point of view of the 5G Network.  PepsiCo will be partnering with Momversation, a destination for women to connect, share and join in fun or enlightening conversations, to produce a video interview series which will address the passions, promise and point of view of the influential women of BlogHer.

PepsiCo will also tap into the pulse of BlogHer with the "Promise Poll," a brief four question text-to-vote poll for attendees to share their thoughts about social responsibility and sustainability. Returning to BlogHer 2010, the PepsiCo Zeitgeist will mine Twitter conversations and presenting trends in real time. The Zeitgeist, specially updated for BlogHer, will also showcase the real-life connections that bloggers are making at the event. View the Zeitgeist at the conference or at www.pepsicozeitgeist.com.

To encourage recycling at BlogHer, PepsiCo Dream Machine kiosks and bins will be stationed throughout the conference.  The Dream Machine program was designed around PepsiCo's goal to increase the beverage container recycling rate in the U.S. from 34 to 50 percent by 2018.  Through computerized kiosks, consumers can collect and redeem points for recycling, and for each bottle or can recycled in a Dream Machine, PepsiCo will provide funding to the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), a national program offering free, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans with disabilities.
