Lay's Wavy Brand To Create First-Ever Pinterest Cookbook ... With Input From Fans
Celebrated Chef Stephanie Izard, Frito-Lay Executive Chef Jody Denton and Leading DIY Web Destination Brit + Co Partner to Develop Unique Recipes Inspired by Lay's Wavy Potato Chip Flavors

PLANO, Texas, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lay's Wavy, the ridged-cut potato chip brand from PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division, in partnership with leading DIY destination site, Brit + Co, today announced plans to create the first-ever Pinterest cookbook. The cookbook will include 40 recipes determined by fans and inspired by the Lay's Wavy potato chip portfolio, including new Lay's Wavy Cheddar flavored potato chips, which hit store shelves last month. It will be released in two phases with the first 20 recipes available for download this spring, and the final 20 recipes available for download later this fall.

To kick off the first phase of the cookbook, the brand will post 50 pins to its "Lay's Wavy Flavor Fusion Inspiration" Pinterest page. Each pin will include a Lay's Wavy potato chip product, paired with a popular food item, such as guacamole or salted caramel. Consumers are then invited to "like" their favorite pairings, with the 20 most-liked combinations inspiring recipes created by well-known chef Stephanie Izard, Frito-Lay Executive Chef Jody Denton and Brit + Co. Lay's Wavy potato chips will be featured as an ingredient or accompaniment to each recipe, adding unexpected flavor and crunch to enhance the final dishes. This fall, additional pairing selections and recipe development will occur to complete the 40-recipe collection.

"With a range of unique flavors, Lay's Wavy potato chips provide endless opportunities for creative recipe combinations," said Tina Mahal, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay. "With this first-ever cookbook on Pinterest, we're not only giving our consumers an opportunity to discover new and unique dishes that celebrate our portfolio, we're giving them a voice in which recipes we ultimately create."

Izard is the chef and partner of two award-winning Chicago restaurants Girl & the Goat and Little Goat, as well as the author of "Girl in the Kitchen." She recently announced plans to open her third Chicago restaurant, a Chinese concept called Duck Duck Goat, which is slated to open late summer 2015. Izard previously owned the highly acclaimed restaurant Scylla, which she sold just prior to appearing on and winning Season Four of Bravo's "Top Chef."

"When it comes to creating standout dishes, the key is adding unexpected ingredients full of flavor," said Izard. "The Lay's Wavy brand offers a delicious line of products that can serve as inspiration on a wide array of everyday favorite dishes. I can't wait to see which pairings fans select."

Lay's Wavy Cheddar flavored potato chips are available in retail stores nationwide in 7.75-ounce bags for a suggested retail price of $3.29. Participating Lay's Wavy potato chip products include Original, Hickory BBQ, Ranch and Roasted Garlic & Sea Salt flavors.
